Navigating YouTube

Log in to CPM Educational Program Account
  • Supervisor must provide you the username/password.
  • Supervisor must make you an administrator to the CPM Educational Program account.

1. Open YouTube.

2. Click the 'Sign in' button.

3. Click on your CPM Google account.

4. Enter your password in the 'Enter your password' textbox and then click the 'NEXT' button.

5. Click the 'CPM Educational Program' channel.

Uploading Video

1. Click the 'CPM Education Program' profile picture and then select 'YouTube Studio'.

2. Click the 'CREATE' button and then select 'Upload videos'.

3. OPTION 1: Click the video file (.mp4) from your personal folder and then drag it to 'Upload videos' panel.

4. OPTION 2: Select files from personal folder.

4.1. Click 'SELECT FILES' button.

4.2. Locate/select the video file (.mp4) from your personal folder.

4.3. Click the 'Open' button.

5. Update the 'Details' tab.

5.1. Edit the title in 'Tile (required)' textbox.

5.2. OPTIONAL: Add description in the 'Description' textbox.

5.3. Select 'Thumbnail'.

5.3.1. OPTION 1: Click one of the suggested thumbnails.
5.3.2. OPTION 2: Upload a thumbnail (.png or .jpeg).

See 'Change Thumbnail' (step 3).

5.4. OPTIONAL: Add the play video to one or more playlists.

5.4.1. Click the 'Playlists' dropdown arrow and then select the playlist.
5.4.2. Click the 'DONE' button.

5.5. Select the 'Audience'.

5.5.1. Click 'Yes, it's made for kids'.

Always select 'Yes, it's made for kids' even if it is for teachers. We get the Educational YouTube channel for kids. Also, teachers show their videos to their students.

ALL CPM VIDEOS MUST BE SET TO "MADE FOR KIDS". Otherwise, we could lose the educational YouTube account!

5.6. Click the 'NEXT' button.

6. Skip the 'Video elements' tab.

6.1. Click the 'NEXT' button.

Fix/investigate the issues if there are any.

7.1. If no issues found, click the 'NEXT' button.

8. Update the 'Visibility' tab.

8.1. Click the 'Unlisted' under 'Save or publish' section.

8.2. Click the 'SAVE' button.

Remove Video

You must be in YouTube Studio to get the video link and embed code.

1. Click the 'Content' tab.

2. Hover mouse to the video you want remove and then click the 'Options' icon (three vertical dots), and then select 'Delete forever'.

3. Click the checkbox and then click 'DELETE FOREVER'.

Change Privacy Settings (Visibility and Restrictions)

You must be in YouTube Studio to change the privacy settings.

1. Click the 'Content' tab and then select the video you want to edit.

2. Click the 'Details' tab.

3. Click the 'Visibility' dropdown arrow, then select the appropriate visibility radio button (Private, Unlisted, or Public), and then click the 'DONE' button.

Unlisted is commonly used.

4. Click the appropriate 'Audience' and 'Age restriction' radio buttons.

5. Click the 'SAVE' button.

Change Thumbnail

You must be in YouTube Studio to change the privacy settings.

1. Click the 'Content' tab and then click the video you want to edit.

2. OPTION 1: Click one of the existing thumbnail pictures under 'Thumbnail'.

3. OPTION 2: Click 'Upload thumbnail' to choose a picture from your personal folder, then locate the folder, then select the picture file (.png or .jpeg), and then click the 'Open' button.

4. Click the 'SAVE' button.

Closed Captioning

You must be in YouTube Studio to change the privacy settings.

Add Closed Captioning/Subtitle

1. Click the 'Content' tab and then click the video you want to add closed captioning/subtitle.

2. Click the 'Subtitles' tab and then click 'ADD' under 'Subtitles' column.

The subtitle will be automatically generated after clicking 'ADD'.

3. Click the play button, and then review autogenerated subtitle.

4. Click the 'PUBLISH' button.

Update Closed Captioning/Subtitle

1. Click 'EDIT' or 'DUPLICATE AND EDIT' under the 'Subtitles' column.

2. Edit the subtitle textbox and/or timing.

3. Click the play button and then review autogenerated subtitle.

4. Click the 'PUBLISH' button.

Remove or Unpublish Closed Captioning/Subtitle

1. Hover your mouse on the subtitle list until you see the 'Options' icon (three vertical dots) and then click.

2. Click 'Unpublish' or 'Delete'.
