How to create IC1 in C3PO

Create Pages

IC1 is located in the Dev Category.  This will prevent a Homework Help section for this eBook.

  1. Select the correct section or chapter.
  2. Add a new chapter.

Choose or create the correct lesson.

  1. Select the correct lesson.
  2. Add a new lesson if needed.

Introduction (Chapter Introduction) in IC1 is equivalent to Opening in Core Connections books.

Introduction has two pages (tabs):

  • Notes = "Lesson at a Glance" for the Note to teachers
  • Lesson = "Student Lesson" for the Note to students and learning targets

Lesson sections have three pages (tabs):

  • Notes = "Lesson at a Glance"
  • Lesson = "Student Lesson": Student version of lessons
  • Answers = "Teacher Lesson": Teacher version of lessons

Choose or create the correct page.

  1. Select the correct page.
  2. Add a new page if needed.

 

Add Content to the Pages

Content Containers on Pages

  1. notes = Lesson at a Glance
    • Question container: Name = CCSS number (5.OA.A.2)
  2. lesson = Student Lesson
    • Lesson Introduction: Name = slaunch
    • Lesson Introduction: Name = intro (This will be re-used in the Teacher Lesson)
    • Question: Name = problem number (in Lesson section)
    • Closure: Name = sclosure
    • Math Note (Methods & Meanings Box): notes
    • Question: Name = problem number (in Reflection & Practice section)
  3. answers = Teacher Lesson
    • Lesson Introduction: Name = tlaunch
    • Lesson Introduction: Name = intro (This is the same as used in the Lesson (Student))
    • Answer: Name = problem number (in Lesson section, includes answers and {teacher notes} attach these to the questions from the Lesson)
    • Lesson Introduction: (Closure) Name = tclosure
    • Lesson Introduction: (Authors' Vision) Name = av
    • Math Note (Methods & Meanings Box):  Name = notes
    • Answer: Name = problem number (in Reflection & Practice section, includes answers, attach these to the questions from the Lesson)
  1. Copy content from Google docs and paste on the C3PO page.
  2. Download images from google doc (right side of google doc in notes is dropbox link) and upload to  page with C3PO image icon. Add tags to the image per standards.
  3. Remove all unneeded font formatting copied from the Google doc and remove any extra blank rows.
  4. Enter all math text in LaTex.  Dates should be entered in plain text.
  5. Format titles per the standards.  IC1 Formatting Standards with Headings
Use the Magic Wand
  1. Add the text to the page as appropriate.
  2. Select the text.
  3. Select the Add CPM Problem icon (magic wand).
  4. Name per info box in "add content to the pages" above.
  5. Select container type. Note: Problem = Question
  6. Click SUBMIT.
Highlighting in Teacher Lesson tab
With one paragraph:
  1. Place your mouse cursor to the paragraph than needs to be highlighted.
  2. Click the highlight icon and select the desire color (purple or grey).
With more than one paragraph:
  1. Insert a 1 cell table.
  2. Click the 'Table properties' icon and update the following:
    Table Alignment – Left;
    Column Width – 2000; and
    Check the 'Presentation Only' checkbox.
  3. Click the 'Background Color' icon and select the desired color (purple or grey).

You can find icon images in this document.

  • Wrap text around images (preferred) or use smaller columns. Check both large and small screen sizes for issue such as image overlapping text or image moving to an incorrection location when the page is responsive.
  • On problems: place images where shown unless it looks strange to have the image on the left then move it to the right
  • Icons should be located on the right. (See Launch example below.)
  • Images look okay on the left if there is text next to the problem number. (See problem 0-3 below.)

Text in brackets {} is for teachers and should be highlighted in purple in the eBook. Purple highlight is teacher notes: tasks for teachers to do.

Gray text in the google doc is for teachers and should be highlighted in grey in the eBook.  It is to help teachers think about questions or ideas for the class.
