Migrate to Prod using WP Migrate

Before migrating stg to prod, make a backup of prod in WP Engine. Instruction are in a foldable below.

Make a backup of Prod

Login to WP Engine prod: Log in directly to staging: https://my.wpengine.com/installs/cpm/backup_points#production

Click cpmorg.

 

Select "Backups".

You will see a list of backups.

Select 'Create Backup'

Update the Backup description (for example 'Backup before link updates'.

Update the Send notification .  Replace [email protected] to your email.

Select 'Create production backup'.

You will receive an email when the backup is complete.  The backup will show in the list.  

If you have problems with WP Migrate, you can restore using this backup.

Migrate WP Database Items (ie pages, posts, media, templates, etc)

Use WP Migrate plug to copy WP database items (ie. pages, posts, media, templates, etc) from stg to prod.

WP Migrate plugin is located in the Tools option in the WP dashboard.

Select Profile 'Push to cpm.org.  This will migrate pages, posts and media files.

Make sure the Database and Media Uploads are checked. Click on 'PUSH' to migrate to prod.

You will see a status bar like the one below showing the progress of transferring files from stg to prod.

 

When the migrate is complete, you will see a confirmation (see below).

Double check your changes on cpm.org.

Note: if you encounter any problems with the migrate, you can restore the backup you made in the first step.

Migrate Plugins

Select Profile, 'Push plugins to cpm.org'.

Make sure Database and Plugins are checked.  Click on 'PUSH' to migrate to prod.

You will see a status bar like the one below showing the progress of transferring files from stg to prod.

When the migrate is complete, you will see a confirmation (see below).

Double check your changes on cpm.org.

Note: if you encounter any problems with the migrate, you can restore the backup you made in the first step.

Migrate Themes

Select Profile, 'Push themes to cpm.org'.

Make sure Database and Themes are checked.  Click on 'PUSH' to migrate to prod

You will see a status bar like the one below showing the progress of transferring files from stg to prod.

When the migrate is complete, you will see a confirmation (see below).

Double check your changes on cpm.org.
