Merging Content

There are 5 types of mergeable content:

1. Lesson Content Containers: Problem/Answer, Lesson Introduction, and Math Note

Merging an existing content container.

  1. From an existing Lesson Content Container, choose the merge button. This will open up the Find duplicate for lesson content container interface.
  2. From the Find duplicate for lesson content container interface, navigate to the correct duplicate content container by starting with the book name.
  3. Once you have navigated to the lesson that contains the duplicate content container select the container by choosing it's container name/number.
  4. If you make a mistake you can navigate back through the breadcrumbs.
  5. You can also navigate back with the arrow in the path.
  6. You can navigate back to the original Lesson content container at any time with the back arrow button.
  1. Once you have chosen the duplicate lesson content container. Both content container will be displayed side by side for review.
  2. Slide the toggle to green for the content you wish to keep for both content containers.
  3. If you are working on a lesson content container for a problem with both a Question and Answer container then click Answer to review the answer contents and access answer toggles. Lesson Introductions and Math Notes only have one container/part.

MathJax does not show in C3PO preview mode.  None of the math is visible as demonstrated in the images below.

Creating and linking a new content container.

1. To create a new lesson content container select the + icon at the bottom of the lesson detail page.

  1. Fill in the name and number for the new lesson content container.  This can be a problem with a Question and Answer, a Lesson Introduction or a Math Note.
  2. Click Link to continue to the Select Lesson Content Container to Link interface.
  3. Next, navigate to the duplicate lesson content container and select.
  4. Once you have selected the duplicate lesson content container the program will return to lesson detail page where you started and the link icon will show.
  5. You will need to add the new content container to the lesson page for Question, Lesson Introduction, or Math Note containers. If you created an Answer content container, that will need to be added to the answers page.
2. Section Elements

The merge user interface for section elements contains all the elements.  

  1. Navigate to a section element from either C3PO or eBooks to access the merge user interface.

  1. From a section element content page, choose the merge button. This will open up the Find duplicate for section user interface.
  2. From the Find duplicate for section user interface, navigate to the correct duplicate section by starting with the book name.
  3. Choose the correct section. This example shows "Introduction" as section chosen.
  4. If you make a mistake you can navigate back through the breadcrumbs.
  5. You can also navigate back with the arrow in the path.
  6. You can navigate back to the original section content page at any time with the back arrow button.

All the elements for the section are shown for merging.

Only toggles for the selected element are adjustable.  The ensures that you are only setting the merge for content you can view.

  1. TNOTE has been selected in this example.  This is indicated by the blue color and the eye icon not crossed out. The toggles are also dark (not shaded) and adjustable.
  2. Once the previews shown in the comparison windows have been reviewed, switch the toggle for the content you wish to keep to green.
  3. If other elements need to be merged, they can be selected. This will then display their content and allow their toggles to be set.
  4. Once all the content to be merged has been set, click submit.
  5. A confirmation window will appear showing what content will be merged.  After reviewing, click Confirm.
3. Tabbed Views
  1. Navigate to a tabbed view tab from either C3PO or eBooks to access the merge user interface.

  1. From a section tab content page, choose the merge button. This will open up the Find duplicate for tab user interface.
  2. From the Find duplicate for tab user interface, navigate to the correct duplicate tab by starting with the book name.
  3. Choose the correct tab. This example shows "Course Components" as the tab chosen.
  4. If you make a mistake you can navigate back through the breadcrumbs.
  5. You can also navigate back with the arrow in the path.
  6. You can navigate back to the original tab content page at any time with the back arrow button.
  1. Once the previews shown in the comparison windows have been reviewed, switch the toggle for the content you wish to keep to green.

4. Popup Items
  1. Navigate to the Popup Item Content Editor from the Book Details page, Glossary Items section.  Use the filter to find the item.
  2. Select the item.  In this example "absolute value" (a glossary item) is selected.

  1. From the Popup Item Content Editor, choose the merge button. This will open up the Find duplicate for Popup item user interface.
  2. From the  Find duplicate for Popup item user interface, navigate to the correct duplicate item by starting with the book name.
  3. Then start typing the item name.
  4. Choose the correct item. This example shows "absolute value" as the duplicate item.
  5. If you make a mistake you can navigate back through the breadcrumbs.
  6. You can also navigate back with the arrow in the path.
  7. You can navigate back to the original tab content page at any time with the back arrow button.
