How to edit the Answers in C3PO

Updated on

Remove Invisible Lists

1. Click on each Problem Container so that it is highlighted.

2. Check the "Insert Lists" button.

3. If the "Insert List" button appears gray, then there is an invisible list that must be deleted

4. Delete the invisible list by clicking the "Insert List" button, and then selecting the "Remove List" option (circle with a line through it) on the drop-down

5. Once the invisible list has been deleted, the "Insert List" button should show a numeric list symbol in white

6. Repeat this process for each Problem Container

If the "Insert List" button already appears with the numeric list in white, there is no invisible list in the problem container

  • *So you do not have to do anything to the problem container*

7. Apply this process to any images that are in the Answers section as well

  • The most common image in the "Answers" section is the "Review & Preview" section indicator

Occasionally the "Answers" section will be missing the "Review & Preview" image and it must therefore be added in

  • Use the image tool and the tags: common and reviewpreview.  The width should be set to 470 and locked for height.

8.  Once you are done, save your work by hitting the "Publish" button

Accept Review and Preview Image

The "Review & Preview" Image is an indicator of the beginning of the problems with Homework Help

  • Typically, the "Review & Preview" Image will be located after the "Math Notes" section

1. Locate the Review & Preview Image

Occasionally the "Answers" section will be missing the "Review & Preview" image and it must therefore be added in

  • Use the image tool and the tags: common and reviewpreview.  The width should be set to 470 and locked for height.

2. Ensure that it is In-Between the Proper Problem Containers

Do this by cross-referencing where the "Review & Preview" image is located in the Lesson of the chapter section you are working on in the eBook or PDF

3. Determine whether the Review & Preview Image has been Accepted

  • If it has not been accepted, a "MathPix" logo in red will appear on the "Review & Preview" image

4. Double Click the Review & Preview Image

  • When you double click the image, a "MathPix" menu will pop up. Click the "Revert to Image" button to accept the image

5. Check if the Review and Preview Image is Centered

Check the alignment of the image by clicking on the image and looking at the "Change Text Alignment" button

  • If the "Review & Preview" image is centered, the button will display the centered alignment

6. Center the Review and Preview Image

  • After selecting the "Review & Preview" image, click the "Change Text Alignment" button, and select the button that displays the center alignment on the drop-down

7. Once you are done, save your work by hitting the "Publish" button

Problem Containers Check

1. When inside the "Answers" Section in C3PO, click on the Chapter/Lesson/Section Number Icon

2. Scroll down to the "Problem Containers" Section

3. Check that each Problem Container has an "Answer" Container

Also be checking the numbers along the left-most column for any missing problems

  • If a problem is missing entirely, you will need to insert "Problem" and "Answer" Containers

4. Cross-Reference Whether the Problem Requires an Answer Container

Certain problem types do NOT require an Answer Container:

  • All Learning Log questions (most common)
  • Some questions with Unique Titles
  • Other questions that are context dependent

5. If the Problem Requires an Answer Container, go back to "Answers" Section in C3PO

6. Add a Space In-Between the Appropriate Problems

  1. Select the Answer Container before where you want to put the space
  2. Hit the Right Arrow Key
  3. Press Enter

7. Click "Insert CPM Problem" button (magic wand)

8. Select the Appropriate Option within the "Insert Lesson Content Container Reference" Menu that Pops Up

To Insert a NEW Answer Container, see below:

  • You will need to do this if no Lesson container exists

1. Select "Create New Lesson Content Container"

2. Name the Content Container for the appropriate problem: e.g. 10-27

3. Then hit the "Submit" Button

To add an Answer to a Problem Container that already exists, see below:

  • You will need to do this if there is already a lesson container, but no answer container

1. Select "Insert Existing Lesson Content Container"

2. Select the Arrow to open the drop down menu of existing problems

3. Select the appropriately numbered problem on the drop down menu that you want to add an Answer Container to.

Edit each Problem Container

1. Double click the Answer Container to go into it from C3PO

2. Once Inside, you must do all of the ordinary Latex tasks

  1. Taking out the "See below" and additional numbering
  2. Taking everything out of MathPix (images and numbers)
  3. Converting all Numbers to Latex -- **This will be most of your work**
  4. Taking out the occasional additional space that will exist before a answer starts
  5. Formatting tables into Latex
Compare PDF with Final Work

1. Make sure you "Publish" all your work

2. Reload the ebooks Page you were working on

3. Open up the appropriate PDF chapter and go to the Lesson you were working on

4. Compare how the PDF looks to how the eBook looks

This is more "art" than science.

The PDF version is what the book looks like in print, so you want there to be parity between the PDF (print) version and the eBook (online) version

  • Make sure that the problems include the correct images, tables, numbers etc.
  • Ensure that the problem is easily readable within the eBooks.
  • Manipulate the browser width to ensure that the problem is readable on wide and narrow screens -- **This is especially important because many students work on their phones**
