How to erase and remove an Apple device from your Apple ID.

Before you erase your Mac Device!

Remove any & all personal items from your Mac.

Erasing your Mac Device

To erase & reset the Mac back to Factory Settings follow these steps:

1. From your Apple Menu in the upper left hand corner of your screen, choose System Settings.

 

2. Click General on the sidebar.

3. Click Transfer or Reset on the right.

4. Then click on the Erase All Content and Settings.

 

5. You will be asked for your administrator credentials. Enter the password that you use to log in to your Mac, then click ok. If you are asked to back up your Mac before resetting it click continue to proceed without making a new backup. This will allow your settings, media, data & other items to be removed.

6. If you are asked to sign out of Apple ID, enter your Apple ID password and Click continue. A box will pop up saying you are about to erase all content and settings from this Mac. Click Erase All Content & Settings.

At this point the Mac will restart and show a black screen with a progress bar. Let it complete the process then you are done. Any steps asked after this point will be run by the Tech Team in preparing for another user.

Removing your Apple ID from an Apple Device without erasing.

1. From your Apple Menu in the upper left hand corner of your screen, choose System Settings.

2. Click on the top where your name is that has Apple ID under it.

3. Select the Apple Device you want to remove from your Apple ID. In this case a device is circled as an example.

4. Click Remove from Account...

5. At this point a box will come up asking for your Apple ID credentials. Enter your Apple ID password and click continue to remove from your Apple ID Account. If you want to remove your MacBook using your Iphone, it is a similar process. See below.

1. Go to the Apple Menu and choose System Settings.

2. Go to your Apple ID and scroll all the way down to your devices and select the Mac you want to remove.

3. Click Remove from Account. A pop up window for your Apple ID Credentials will show up so please enter your password and click continue. This will remove your  Mac from your Apple ID and enables CPM to be able to erase, re-install and set up for another user.

4. Ship Mac device to CPM. Once CPM receives your Mac and confirmed your Apple ID is not still connected to the Mac then you are released from liability for this Mac device.
