Run Terminal program. You can find Terminal in your Launchpad. (see icon below)
You can search for the Terminal program by typing 'terminal' in the Search bar.
Click on the terminal icon. The Terminal program will be executed.
Enter: sudo profiles -N
You will be prompted for your computer password. Enter the password.
Note: In terminal when you are entering your password, the screen is blank. You will not see asterisks as you type your password.
Exit Terminal. Next you will receive a message to enroll your device. (See below.) Click on the popup message.
Kandji will install.
You will be prompted to install the MDM profile. Click Install.
You will also be prompted to enter your computer password.
You may see this message to allow enrollment and enter the computer password.
You will receive a 'Verified' confirmation in green. It is normal to see this message in red. If your computer is lost or stolen, Kandji can lock your computer. Don't worry, we are not going to erase all the data on your computer. This is an information message.
The Kandji butterfly will appear in the Status bar on your computer. When you click on it, Kandji will display and Action items that are Required. In this example, No Action is require and Kandji has been successfully installed.
You may see a FileVault Recovery Key Action required message.
(FileVault is a disk encryption program that creates a key to help prevent unauthorized access to the information on your startup disk. The Recovery Key is the 'secret code' or cipher that is used to decrypt your data.)
Click on the Kandji butterfly on the status bar.
You may also see messages to update your software if you are not on the most recent version. Example of updates would be for:
- Operating system (MacOS 11 Big Sur)
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Google Chrome
- Slack
- Ringcentral
- Zoom
